ROLAND MV 8800- MUTI TRACK US version will it work in europe

Post by sososo »

Hi!

I bought a roland mv 8800 from the usa couple days ago.
Do I need a converter to get it to work on 230v?

Nope. The MV8000 and MV8800 are dual voltage. I bought mine in NY and used it in England, Germany and Qatar with no transformer or problems. You'll just need to change the power cord end to be able to plug it into the different power outlets.

So you are 100% sure dont need it for the mv8800?
I have read that the mv8000 have a auto voltage therfor I asked Roland customer service in US: and got this answear:

Hello
Most likely you will need a converter.

Sincerely,

Roland US Product Support

Its very confusing some says they use a converter on forums.
Somehow I didnt belive it so I posted a question up here.
The mv8800 you got was it marked 110v on the back of it?
Is it like a pc power converter in it, whit dip switches?
Is it any ways I can check that its autovoltage?. the manual doesnt say much.

Thanks

Honestly, I can't check the back of my MV8000 because I shipped it with my all my belongings from England to here in Las Vegas... but it does have auto-voltage adjustment.
On the MV8800 specs page ... http://www.roland.com/products/en/MV-8800/specs.html it shows all the voltages but doesn't specify if it's auto-voltage (it's the same on the MV8000 spec page).
Just go by what the Roland rep told you just to be on the safe side.

Juke179 is spot on. You don't need a converter. The Roland phone reps tend to be far less knowledgeable than the users of the MV

Power Supply -AC 115 V, AC 117 V, AC 220 V, AC 230 V, AC 240 V (50/60 Hz)

That is directly from the MV Appendices.

Thanks for all replays.

I got the recorder yesterday it says 117voltage on the back of the recorder.
so I open it up it says 250v on the blueprint inside.
I also found the 110v-250 step voltage automatic inside as someone said.
It also say 250v if you drag the power adapter out and look inside (black connector on the back side of the recorder in the same area as the on/off botton its where you plugg the cable. So I can therfore confirm whats allreday been confirmed
a USA version of Roland MV 8800 work on 230v.
But as a safe check allways look inside.
