What use are you going to give to the mixer?
How much money want to spend? ...etc

Re: mixers and the mv 8800
The problem with an analog mixer is the conversion to digital, i mean if you first sample something to the MV and then you wanna eq it with your analog mixer you would loose quality in the conversions digital to analog to go from the MV to the mixer, and then from analog to digital again to go inside the MV.
Re: mixers and the mv 8800
o all right that makes sense so would you suggest a digital mixer?
if so which one? the music i record the most is hip-hop(not rap!!!) and R&B if this matters

Re: mixers and the mv 8800
Well if the use you gonna give to the mixer is the one i described befere, the answer is yes, the digital mixer is your best choice (i love analog mixers by how they sound ,but if you are working with digital you should avoid conversions).
Im in the same trouble as you, except for the mic.
I use an analog mixer to record directly to the MV, the Rane TTM56 so that way i can scratch, cut and fade my samples but not enough for a good EQ when you have any track inside the MV that is finished.

Re: mixers and the mv 8800
just looked at some digital mixers online and i dont think i can afford one.
but how bad is the quality loss with an analog mixer

Re: mixers and the mv 8800
As I wrote before the conversion is bad in the case of:
such as having a sampled sound or track that you've made in the MV and then you want to take it to your mixer to equalize it.
With that money will be advisable a dj mixer (any analog would be ok) and you could record from the mic and sample from vinyl (in that way you should not worry about the conversions) and equalize your tracks in the MV that has MIXER and EQ´s.
In case do not want to use the MV equalizer, you can use the ecualizers from any software you use connecting your sound card and the MV.

Re: mixers and the mv 8800
I use a Mackie 1202 VLZ-Pro mixer it is an analog mixer and works great, not sure if they still make this model, it is built like a tank and has the phantom power you are looking for. Good luck!
