HI,
I've been using the MV 8800 as the centerpiece for my sequencing setup with my Fantom X. With local control off on the Fantom, everything I do on it is sent to the MV 8800 which controls the sound engine on the Fantom allowing the MV 8800 to the the master sequencer. I want to incorporate my Gaia into the sequence. I know that I can use the midi thru port to control the Gaia with the MV 8800 but I want to use the keyboard of the the gaia and since there's only one input on the MV 8800, I don't see a way to do this. Am I missing something? Could some of you Midi experts set my straight? I would really appreciate it.
Fantom X, Gaia and Mv 8800
Re: Fantom X, Gaia and Mv 8800
You will need a MIDI merge device if you want to combine the MIDI transmitted from both keyboards.
Here's a cheap, simple one:

The MIDI OUT's of the Fantom-X and Gaia would be connected to the MIDI IN's of the Merger. The MIDI OUT of the Merger would be connected to the MIDI IN of the MV-8800.

Re: Fantom X, Gaia and Mv 8800
Go from the Gaia to the Fantom to the MV, then back to the Gaia. You've got a midi loop. Set the Gaia to receive on channel 16, mute that track on the Fantom.

Does the Gaia have a "Soft Through" function? You'll need that and the Soft Through on the Fantom to make a MIDI loop.thunderkyss wrote:Go from the Gaia to the Fantom to the MV, then back to the Gaia. You've got a midi loop.

Thank you for the replies. The midi merge box looks like a good solution and to answer the question about the soft thru on the Gaia, it does have a soft thru for a loop. Thank you again everyone.
