MC-808 Copying Parts across Patterns

Post by TOTAL »

Withing one pattern it is achieved by Extract Rhythm (it's actually a Move rather than Copy function).

But what if you like say part 1 from pattern 1 and part 2 from pattern 2 and want them as different parts in one pattern?

For a while I thought that this would be achived through assigning a part to a RPS and then recording RPS's contents to a desired part. But it doesn't work.

Hi TOTAL,

use the pattern copy function. Make only the part button lit of the part that you want to copy and set the destination pattern parameter to the pattern where you want to copy to.

It is described in the english manual on page 71.

doesn't work.

step by step it looks like this:

one mesure long pattern
several parts already used

I want to copy CARD pattern 4's part 8 to part 7

1. solo part 8 (SHIFT + TEMPO + 8) -> part 8 lit, the rest blinking or off
2. shift + Pad 1 (COPY)
3. source from 1
4. source end 1
5. event ALL
6. min, max -
7. dest pattern CARD
8. COPY dest pattern 4
9. dest MEASURE 1
10. dest PART...

...and that's where I cannot change anything, as if I had chose more than one part.

Hi TOTAL!

Make the part buttons not lit AFTER you press shift+pad1.

The mute state is not relevant for pattern edit operations.

Thanks a lot! I have already managed with it. And now I remember having exactly the same problem with 909.

Hi, this took me about 2 hours to understand how to perform copy one part to another part. ;)

But after I did it, melody remains the same, but sound completely changed, now I see it did not copy the Patch sound as well, even when I did choose to copy ALL. Should this work like that?

That is how it worked for me. Even after factory resets, unrelated to this.
