Mc-808 driver won't work for mac
After installling the mc-808 driver, when I try opening Audio MIDI Setup (Applications/Utilities/Audio MIDI Setup), it says that a faulty driver is preventing it from opening. I've tried uninstall/reinstalling the driver to no avail. If I try opening the setup menu in the editor program, nothing happens. The driver version I have is 1.1.0, and my Mac OS is 10.4.6
any help? I'd really appreciate it...

thanks Dirk
You wouldn't happen to have the phone number would you? You said it;s free so it's probably an 800 number. I tried looking for it on their website but no luck. If you could - I owe you one
thanks again,

Is That All?
Dirk's continual dedication to the Groovbox cause is unreal,to be fair. But i notice no one is asking the same question as myself. Can anyone tell me where i can find detailed info. on the actual edit functions within the Editor program.Changing parameters is quite simple but certain buttons perplex me at this point (i.e The Auto-chop functions). The online manual with the program does not tell me enough. Please read my "808 Editor Info." currently on page 1 of this Groove Zone forum. If anyone out there is an Auto-chop God,or a Wave generating Freak, then please tell me where i can find info about all the buttons it the Edit screens in the Editor program.Or have i missed something in all these manuals?
Converting WAV files to mono
Anyone know of a simple way of converting a WAV file to mono?
I know you can sample directly into the MC-808 in mono, but all the WAV files I've imported into are set to stereo which eats up more memory and ram.
Since there's no way of converting stereo files to mono from the machine or editor, perhaps there's a WAV editor I can download which can do it for me. Right now I'm using Cool Edit Pro 2 to create and edit samples, but I don't see the option of doing so.

Re: MC-808 Questions and Answers
As far as i know this type of procedure is not possible.i am sure that EMI could not do this for all the Digitally re-mastered early Beatles stuff.Although they sound great they still remain in mono.I multi-track all the time and find using mono recordings of instruments & vocals essential.Using stereo for Pads,Strings,Drum kits and other Synth parts. All the Sound Production manuals i have read say this quite normal in modern day recordings. As for sampling, i have found its best to record i mono as much as possible unless you are after a certain effect i.e auto-panned Synth parts,or recording stereo effects and recordig samples from commercial recordings.Remember that not only does stereo recording take up memory it also uses alot polyphony within the mix,so use your stereo recordings wisely as u may end up with a muggy mess.Thats as much as i know.Hope it helps. Love Gingexx

Hi Re-Member,
try http://audacity.sourceforge.net/
As far as i remember there is such a function included. Otherwise you can resample in mono the wav file on the mc-808 but this is much more work

Re: MC-808 Questions and Answers
does anyone know if you can create custom rhythm sets with the 808? I mean assigning a drum sample to each of the 16 pads. I thought you could do that with the editor.
Thanks,
Maat

Re: MC-808 Questions and Answers
Hit Mathew,
have a look in the mc-808-faq in the topic
'How can i build a rhythm kit from samples i imported?'
The basic idea is to set the patch to "Rhytm" first and then edit this patch with the editor. The editor will now recognize that this patch is a drum set and offer different edit pages.

sample memory/DIMM not working?
Hello,
Working with my 808 has been great, but alas I ran into another snag. I'm recording samples into my 808 when I get the message that the user/card area is full. I check the internal memory and the user area is indeed full, showing 0.0MB, but the sample memory still reads 120.2MB!!!
All of the samples are saved under USAM category. I assume the DIMM is working, since it's at 120.2MB and not 128MB. I don't know what the heck is going on, but this is retarded.
Please help, Dirk, my savior...

Re: MC-808 Questions and Answers
Hi Mart,
please try that: select a card sample before sampling. This should help. In the User sample area you can only save about 16 mb. btw, you need to insert a cf card before that.
