Fantom G Arpeggio

Post by Suiciety »

Hi everyone,

I'm a proud owner of a new Fantom G6. Can anyone help me better understand how the arpeggiator works on this beast? I can't seem to find any drum arpeggios built in (yes, that would make me a one finger synth king, heh). I'm looking for ease not complexity just yet. Once I get my head and hands around it, I'll be programming original arpeggios onto my songs. But in the meantime, built in arpeggios allow me to get initial ideas down quickly.

Oh, I currently don't use a PC/Mac - but plan on purchasing one for my G6 soon. Any recommendations (i.e., PC vs. Mac)?

Thanks!

For rhythm patterns, you should look into the drum machine (rhythm generator), not the arpeggiator. It's activated from the pads.

Mac in general is a much, much better choice. They are not just computers, it's more of having a great experience in getting your ideas implemented with high levels of speed and pleasure. Equipped with all you need out of the box, much more easy to use in every way, much more reliably day to day, and - finally - falling in love with a Mac is no bad thing.

You can also look into our computers section, there are quite a few people that switched to a Mac in the recent years and never looked back. Seriously, these are amazing machines no matter who you are and how you look at it.

I recommend a Mac.

Except for downloads. everything I need my computer for is readily done on the FG. Actually that was/is my motivation to get the FG, ie sequence song in a keyboard and not even boot the old Mac.

Thanks! I found the rhythm generator via the Pad Mode for the drums and messed around with the the built in patterns/arps. But I wasn't pleased with the typical rock/pop/hip hop patterns and wanted more than just 16 different pre-set patterns. Is there a way to access more or is this pretty much it?

Is it possible to download additional arpeggios from somewhere? And is it also possible to have more than 128 available arpeggios on the G6?

I also recommend mac.

I bought a Macbook and Logic Express two months ago, and I am very happy. It will seem that the Mac costs a little bit more when you get it, but I believe that price is well worth the wonderful Mac OS.

One really cool thing about the Fantom-G arpeggiator is how if you record with the arp engaged, the individual arpeggiated notes get sequenced to the track—where they can be quantized, shifted, tweaked, etc.

Although the G can only have one arp active at any given time, you can record through it as many times as you want. So every track could be run through a different arpeggiator preset.

Also a Logic guy on the Mac.

Yes, it's very cool ^^

Also, you can make RPS of those, too!
