Breaking news from my bathroom! I just finished the 10th article for the micro manual which means it will grow about twice. Will get the texts from my iPod into iWork and hopefully release the new version by the end of the week.

I took a look at this for the first time this week and gotta say I was impressed. Helps out the newcomers no end and wished I had something like this in the first few weeks of owning the G.

Got a quick suggestion for you and I don't mind helping out with it if you like. I notice a lot of people have trouble setting up the G with Sonar and Cubase initially. I had the same trouble with cubase recently. It would be nice if this could be included and would cut down on some of the questions from the forum.

Glad you like it, Flumpster! As about Cubase or Sonar, I don't own either so can't really help with the setup procedure... we better cooperate on making a "Setting up Fantom-G with a DAW" PDF.

Hi guys,

great idea concerning "setting up FG with your DAW". I could participate by delivering the setup-procedure for cubase sx3 as I'm working with this version.

Let me know.

Greetings,

Thanks for your work Art. This booklet is helpful. I'm contemplating buying the G8 to replace my X8. This will help in my decision.

Also, I love the soft sell of the iMac in the Roland documents. LOL. Interesting that they put iMacs in their booklets but most of their software stuff with Sonar is only for PC.

Updated the micro manual today ;-)

As in the news, "Among a few minor additions and improvements, the new PDF includes a diagram of the Fantom-G's internal structure, which shows how it's different building blocks and inputs/outputs are connected together."

You are a SAINT!!

Just quickly scanned through the manual. Looks great. Will read more thoroughly over the next couple of days.

What I'm really interested in is using my F-G8 for musical theater. Most posts and tutorials seem to focus on song writing and concert performances.

The subtle difference with musical theater is that I'd like to not only quickly change patch settings by using the pad buttons or function keys but also trigger sound effects.

For example, in Seussical the Musical, there's an explosion sound effect in the middle of a song. Another song switches from piano to circus calliope and back to piano. It also includes an elephant trumpeting sound effect.

I know the how-to for this stuff can be pieced together from manuals. I'm just being lazy and trying to find "I've done that" examples.
