How many tones ? How many acoustic natural tones ? How many synth natural tones ?

Where is the tone list ?

The live set list ?

hmmm do they have something to hide ?

Otherwise that synth looks fantastic, very suited to my need.

I do like very much :
- usb audio (my vst will controlled with JP80 keyboard using the external 'part', and played via J80's main out).
- the tone/live set/part/registration organisation
- 3 oscillators per tone, 4 tones for the upper and lower parts, 1 tone for solo et perc, that makes up to 30 oscillators for 1 note !
- 4 zone keyboard split
- midi file import for user arpegs
- the controlers (knobs, d-beam, 3 pedals ...)
- the spdif audio output (go to my m-audio dsm-3)
- the overall simplicity that hides depth possibilities
- the chord name that we play with lower part is displayed :)

Strangely the thread about the user manual is much longer over on the Korg Kronos forum. The main topic over there is how short the manual and parameter guides are (c.200 pages for both), is this becuase the user guide is aquick start guide or is there going to be more information later?

Roland manuals have never been verbose...here are the functions now figure it out for yourself :p I would not expect anything more than minor revisions.

Well maybe because we are not trying to compare the Jupiter with the Kronos here.... gladly ;-)
The Jupiter is a pretty straight forward synthesizer. It's true that Roland expects you to know what an oscillator is instead of explain it to you. So Roland Users Manual commonly are not more are then a list of functions.

From my read of the manual, it all looks like pretty familiar Roland fare, just a lot more of it. Lots more APS modelling options for lots more instruments. Can you mix and match there? (no; that's clear) I just gave the parameter guide a pretty cursory glance this morning.

Ok update 7/7: the top list above by fantomck is just listing built-in categories you can assign to edited Synth tones.

You can use PCM instead of a modeled oscillator in the synth tones, but I can't find a list of the available built-in PCM waves, which of course are separate from the SN Acoustic Tones.

Vince, if you could point us to that list that'd be great, if it's finalized yet, that is.

Not sure if most of you are aware of it or not, but Roland made the Jupiter-80 sound list available for download

I had the Parameter List and Sound List printed and bound at a local print shop. Turned out very nice and made me want a color Owner's Maual.

I e-mailed Roland to see if a color .pdf was available; it is not.
