Connect iPad to MIDI keyboard
Connect iPad to MIDI keyboard
I'm ready to use a real keyboard with my ipad synths. Is the Line 6 MIDI Mobilizer still a good way to do this, or are there other/better options that I don't know about?
Thanks,
Rodan

Re: Connect iPad to MIDI keyboard
If you have a keyboard with a USB port, and it doesn't require a software driver, you can connect it via a USB adaptor in the camera connection kit. I.e. no need for the Line6 cable.
Re: Connect iPad to MIDI keyboard
Thanks, Artemiy. I do have the camera connection kit, but at this point, only two Roland keyboards (Fantom X and V-Synth), so I guess I'm out of luck.
Re: Connect iPad to MIDI keyboard
Is FantomX compatible with iPad for USB MIDI?
Re: Connect iPad to MIDI keyboard
No.. The Fantom x uses a USB driver... You can however buy the line 6 thing or the maudio UNO to use as midi to USB converter

Re: Connect iPad to MIDI keyboard
Almost any USB to MIDI cable that does not require a driver should work. I use a no-name purchased at Best-Buy.

Nice Piaknow !!!piaknowguy wrote:See this thread.
Are you using the Camera Connection Kit and the USB/MIDI cable for that?
Cheers,

Re: Connect iPad to MIDI keyboard
I'm trying to connect my Gaia to the iPad and it says it is not compatible...I guess I'm going to need a USB-MIDI cable.
Anybody with the same problem?
Thank you!

Yes Igor,IgorCristo wrote:I'm trying to connect my Gaia to the iPad and it says it is not compatible...I guess I'm going to need a USB-MIDI cable.

The same applies to ALL Roland (and Korg too, for that matter), as they need a proprietary USB driver. Unless Roland releases drivers for iPads, you will have to use a solution like the one Piaknowguy mentioned.

Re: Connect iPad to MIDI keyboard
I guess I'll pass my Gaia SH-01 then.....
I'm thinking about the Arturia 49 keys controller, so I can get the software also! =)
It's kind of hard to do business with this in Brazil, but I'll try! Thank you for helping me.

Depending on the price in Brazil, consider the Akai pro MPK25 or MPK49 as they use standard USB drivers too.IgorCristo wrote:I guess I'll pass my Gaia SH-01 then.....

Re: Connect iPad to MIDI keyboard
Hy guys,
Just to tell you that I managed to get the iPad2 + camera connection kit to work with all Roland keyboards I own, using a Roland MIDI/ USB interface ;-)
I just used the UM-2EX in standard mode driver (doesn't work if set for advanced driver), connected to the camera connection kit and one midi cable from thr UM-2EX MIDI IN to the PCR, A-PRO, Fantom, whatever...
Cool!!!
I'll be testing the UM-550 and the UM-3EX tonight, as maybe they also work :-0
