MV-8800 Dust Under Display

Post by wd8dkyy »

Hello. Has anyone disassembled their 8800 to clean dust out from under the glass? I just picked one up, and there is quite a bit of dust in there.

I searched around for a service manual, and on YouTube, with no luck.

Thank you!

I haven´t fully disassembled my MV yet, but from what I´ve seen/read it must be a PITA.

If you do it be sure to take a lot of photos, otherwise you might not be able to put it back together properly.

If I remember it's only the 2 external screws to remove the top screen cover and blow out the dust/debris from the main screen. Use a soft cloth to wipe the screen.

I´ve done it the other day...it´s doable, but it´s a bit more work than just removing the two screws holding the screen cover.

Major props for taking the time to post these pics. Mine has so much dust it's like looking in grandma's attic or something

This weekend, I'm doing some spring cleaning on both 8800's and cleaning out the screens.

I spring cleaned both 8800's today and they look great! Thanks again to Soul One for the pics! Vielen Dank!
Definitely use a microfiber cloth that you use to clean eye glasses or a camera lense. I tried using a clean white t-shirt rag and the screen looked smeared after I was done.
