JD-Xi effects routing

Post by flonky »

I have a question about the effects routing:
With the Effect 1, 2, Delay and Reverb knob I can set the effect amount of every effect globally for the whole program, say for all 4 parts.
Then I can switch the effects on or off for the individual parts.
Right?
That means, I cannot have one part with Reverb and Delay and anther part just with Delay as I cannot just switch the Delay on.
Isn't that quite bad?
Or am I missing some point?
Thanks,
Florian

The EFX is on/off per synth parts and per keys on drum part.

That doesn't really explain how I can get one part with just delay and another part with delay and reverb...

It is simple. On part you just want the delay, switch off the reverb and on the delay. On part part you want delay and reverb, switch on the delay and revarb. It works.

I can't switch off the reverb and on the delay. It's either delay AND reverb or just reverb.
There is no way to switch just the delay on.

@ flonky:
Could it be that you try to set the effects only with the knobs?
The knobs are Master Effects knobs.
To set an individual effect amount for each tone you have to go to the Program Edit Menu.
Then choose Dly Send Lev or Rev Send Lev for each part.

What makes it confusing is that the panel effects on/off button turns switches them in a series... you get 1-4, 2-4, 3-4 or just 4. You can't just turn on effect 3 for a part, and none of the others without going through the menu.

It's very confusing and a strange way to implement the effect per-part functionality.

The JD-xi is basicly a live performing tool. So the idea of the implementation was how it would make the most sense in a live situation.

What you are talking about is more sound development and for this task menu diving is needed.

What would be really cool is if you could use shift+effect knob to alter the send volume for each part... It is quite useful to be able to have delay on multiple parts, and adjust it on the fly for just one part, for example.

This.

Also:
you can set effect amount for each drum part note separately by going to the Tone Edit Menu and then scrolling to the very last options (use Shift + Cursor <>).
