Sustain/hold issue Fantom X7..

Post by Dark Star Balla »

I plugged my pedal in and it sustains without stepping on the pedal and cuts off when stepping on the pedal. I'm trying to get the opposite affect.

That means the polarity of the pedal is the reverse of what the Fantom expects. Many pedals have a switch that reverses the polarity. If yours does, the fix is easy. Why is this even an issue? Because the polarity is not standard and depends upon the manufacturer. For that reason a lot of pedals have a polarity switch. If the pedal doesn't have a switch, you would have to take it or the connector apart and reverse the wires, fairly easy if you are handy with a soldering iron.

Wait, wait! Don't get out your soldering iron! Sorry.

The Fantom has the option to reverse polarity to match your pedal. If your pedal doesn't have a switch, go to
MENU...Sytem Setup...Pedal/DBeam

There you will find the option to revers the Hold Pedal Polarity. After changing the polarity, be sure to select red System Write (F8) or the change won't be saved when you turn the keyboard off.
