How many articulations is included in the integra 7 patches

Post by hag01 »

This is a hardware module allegedly very usable for music production, and supposed to work like a software VI when connecting it to a computer.

But from looking in its documentation, I don't really understand how it works.
I see great list of patches, some of the patches is for live keyboard rig, so thay don't have to contain any articulations, only on\off on the keys.

but how many articulations do I get with the ones which designed for music production?

If I'm not getting lots of articulations like you gets in every good virtual instrument this days, this module is useless in terms of music productions...

And how do I controll the articulations?
Do I get a software editor for those patches?
Like the Kontakt player of the Integra 7?
And there I have keys witches and many more controll features for every patch?

Or maybe I just controll the articulations via MIDI CCs?

And how good the Integra 7 to create convincing Orchestral\Big band\Chamber mock ups?

For example, check out this recording:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zfe3yOuH0ME

The sound is great, but if I want to produce a convincing jazz\big band mock ups, I must have a great controll on those brass instruments, that based on how a real sax\trumpet\trombone works.

I believe you will have the best results by first looking at Supernatural patches. Let me suggest you to have a look at this document to understand how SuperNatural sounds are made:

http://cdn.roland.com/assets/media/pdf/ ... _brief.pdf

For PCM (sampled) sounds it is different and often rely on multi sampling recorded at different velocity. It is of course also different from one type of instrument to another.

OK, I've read it, very interesting.

But what about the patches on the SRX boards?

Those patches was designed particularly for music production, am I right?

I wish there was a documentation of all the features and articulations of all the patches in the Integra 7.

Unfortunatly there is nowhere I can try to use the Integra 7, I need to understand exactly what this rack module offers me
.
Right now, I just can't decide if the Integra 7 is the thing for me.

All of the manuals are freely available from Roland here: https://www.roland.com/us/products/integra-7/support/

You can read in as much depth as you want with all the stuff you'll find there, but I recommend to start by reading the document titled "Inside the Integra-7". Pages 5 and 6 provide a very basic overview of how the articulations can be triggered with SuperNatural sounds. When using SRX sounds, most of the time you will find one patch per articulation, so you can either use a separate channel or do a program change to switch articulations.
