Ratcheting with Step Sequencer?

Post by tomoe97 »

Is there any way to accomplish TD-style ratcheting with the Step Sequencer?

Hi

Yes it's possible but may not work with all kind of sound. Unfortunately the scale (SEQ, note length) knob can not be parameter locked (record step or realtime motion). The workaround is to use the TRIG ENV parameter and its rate knob in the LFO section. example: Make a short sound, with TRIG ENV engaged, with a low rate value so you won't hear the retrigger in your sequence. Record some notes in the seq. Step Rec still being active, keep a step pushed then turn the rate knob of the TRIG ENV at about 3 o'clock, so it will accelerate the retrigger for this step. Tempo sync engaged should give better result.

note: i just notice that even with tempo sync engaged, modulate a parameter with the SEQ will be via plain value (0 to 255) while the parameter itself show tempo sync value (1/16, 1/32 etc etc).....so you have to "search" to get the good value (0 to 255) to be "translated" to tempo synch value......

Please find a small video attached to show the result.
