Power Up/Screen Issues

Post by RolandFan »

When I power up my V Synth now, it takes a while for the lights to come on. And several minutes for the Screen to come on. Is that normal? I don't remember it being this slow.

It happens to me once in a while too. Maybe this is because the type of the LCD they are using, this also happens to Fantom-S/X boards.

This also happens on my V-Synth XT but it is not consistant. I figured it was just the backlight taking awhile to power on. I'm not going to worry about it if it happens to everyone.

I have the same thing with my Fantom S.
Last week it took about a minute for the display to light up.
I wonder if it's the blasted heat. It's very hot at the moment.
I'm glad that I'm not the only one with that issue as I was getting very worried.
I even started a thread awhile back on the fantomized section, saying that my Fantom is scaring me:)

Yup, seems to happen to me here as well (V-Synth XT). I don't think it's anything to worry about though - at least I hope not.

Hello

I use the keyboard V-Synth and mine also has done this over the past several months. I find it happens moreso when I've had the synth powered off for several days.
If I power the synth up every day, it doesn't seem to occur.
I've wondered if the XT's display would work on the keyboard version if circumstances warrant.

10 years later, I just posted about this issue on here then found this thread. Does anyone who posted in this thread have any details about this problem? did it turn out that it was a dying screen, was it always random but livable, was there any fixes?

It's happening to me on an original V-Synth (not XT/GT)

Did anyone have to buy a new screen or PSU board or similar?

Thanks for any info!

Lots of research points to this being a common flaw, based on temperatures in your room, and affects many roland synths with screens. For the most part it seems to be ok for most people, and something you live with. Mine isn't too bad today, turning on instantly 4 times out of 5 that I've tried it today, and with only a small delay on 1 go, and that was after moving it from a warmer room back to a slightly colder one.
