Red Juno DS !! - Ever seen one of these? I painted my DS

Post by java2go »

I painted my Juno DS red to match my new Nord Wave 2. Calle me OCD or whatever but I think it looks really cool. I have had this Juno since they first came out and it has served me faithfully without a hitch and is still going strong. I still consider one of the greatest values for a workhorse keyboard out there.

I had to take it apart, including the toggle, but I let the circuit boards intact and did a really good job of covering them up before I did the paint job and taping it off. I primed it, applied 2 coats of Rustoleum Gloss Sunrise Red, and the top coated it. Not as perfect as I would like, but I am proud of it. I did use some 1000 grit sandpaper to buff out some light nicks I had on the top of the keyboard before I started.

Very cool. My DS is the factory black model, but neat idea making them look similar. I wonder how chip-resistant it's going to be.

I was also going to say you should have painted the Nord black, but then I see you painted your stand too. Now you need to paint your pedals. Actually pretty cool looking, I wouldn't have the time or the skill to do it...

Well done sir! I've gone and worked under the hood with every electric guitar I've ever owned. Learned a lot along the way, but not willing to start something like this because of the sensitive electronics. Guitars are just dumb pickup coils and potentiometers. Very basic stuff.
How is it holding up now, got any recent pics?
