Pan sweep using motion designer? (MC-101)

Post by Sszyszka »

Hi all,

Is it possible to use motion designer to do L/R pan sweeps? I tried pointing motion designer at the pan knob, but with the min/max values being only positive numbers it only bounces back and forth between center and right. No luck getting it to go left at all.

Any hints would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

The best way to automate a pan function is to use one of the LFOs on the Tone settings. If you set the LFO wave to Ramp Up or Ramp Down and set the LFO sync ON with the Time set appropriately, then use the Pan control on the LFO to set how deep left or right. Additionally, you can also use sine or sawtooth LFO wave for an autopan effect. You can also use the Autopan insert effect set at a very slow speed to do left/right transitions.

Thank you for pointing me in the right direction! I'm new to electronic music making and am finding the MC-101 to be a really tough nut to crack.

The MC101 is slightly harder to use than the MC707 because of the screen difference, though the MC101 is a very capable machine itself. If you have both, an MC707 project will load on the MC101 but will only play the first 4 tracks. But MC101 projects will play in full on the MC707 with 4 tracks spare. They're both really good machines. The synths and sequencers on both are really excellent for budget grooveboxes. The new Korg groovebox that's on its way will have to be good to beat the MC707, I reckon.
