Re: This is where you can tell Roland what you want from the next MC707 firmware update
Yes, Wavestrike, I too have just about given up on Roland. When you see the number of replies on this post, every one from a Roland fan, and they can't even be bothered to update one of their best ever machines, with the amount of goodwill it would bring, you just think 'stuff you, Roland, it's the ...

Re: MC-707 Needs an editor for the build-in synth and a proper side chain compressor
Just noticed on one of the replies; newbies read.... The very first thing you do with the MC707 is change each track to Clip Mode. This means every clip on the track can be a different instrument, with different effect, different knob functions. This is one of the functions that make the MC707 great...

USE THIS FORUM! Between us, we'll make Roland listen...
Guess what? G Mayle ain't my real name and is a satire on Google. But anyway, use this forum to mouth off at our beloved Roland. We have a dysfunctional relationship, Roland Corp and Roland User. It'll never last and is heading for the divorce courts, unless we get some firmware updates. You know th...

Stop wasting money, Roland!
You currently have a quite brilliant range of gear...... .....but it's all lacking due to poor firmware! Stop making new stuff for a while, update the firmware on virtually ALL of your current products, or give free editors and software for them, which will then sell much better, and you will save y...

Re: TR8S feature requests
It'd be environmentally wasteful to make another drum machine right now after the TR8s and TR6s, which are Roland's best, and only need firmware updates to keep selling long into the future. 1) Step microshifting 2) Scene Function per preset that stores the current state of the instruments, sets the...

Hey Roland!
Look at the number of posts on this topic! Plainly the MC707 is a much loved machine, even an idiot could see it (not you, Roland, perish the thought! 😎) Sometimes, Roland, my dear boy, you can make much commercial headway in all routes, by listening to those impassioned by something great that you'...

Re: Future boutiques
With Korg's Nutube technology, I was always hoping they might make a cheap Fairchild 670 boutique compressor. Roland missed a trick on the possibilities for valve/tube devices, and Korg haven't used it well either. There's a real market for boutique outboard production devices that can be used live/...

Thoughts on JX-08
This one by Roland is a very under-rated synth. Not a pig to program, once you work out that the PA sequence number is a performance, not too clear in the documentation. Actually the synth is a modern JX-10 clone, one of Roland's best analogues. It makes the very fattest of leads and pads. The seque...

Thoughts on JD-08
It's a great sounding synth, more than fat enough, with enough modifiers. But it's a long way from being an easy or fun synth to make patches on, and really could do with a free computer librarian/editor. The small display isn't intuitive for the effects settings or deeper params that you might like...

Re: TR8S feature requests - The FUNK
Roland's best drum machine still needs step microshifting. Does now have probability, FM, CR-78 emulator. You can tell who's got the funk and who hasn't, by whether or not they've requested step microshifting 😄

Re: CR-68 drum machine not working...
No idea. But you're a lucky beatmaker to have a CR-68! Bet you've found a Space Echo, a TB-303 still in its 1981 box, and a JX-10 mint, unused, in the very same cupboard. Publish your address please, the rest of us are on our way round to burgle yer house. 😄

Re: This is where you can tell Roland what you want from the next MC707 firmware update
There's already a master compressor on the MC707. All it needs is a few more params and a trigger input, make-up gain etc and it becomes the much sought-after Sidechain Compressor. Two new params on each pad/tone/looper, 'Use Master Compressor (Yes/No)' and 'Send to Master Compressor (0-100). That's...

Re: This is where you can tell Roland what you want from the next MC707 firmware update
My last post on this topic, hope it gives you laugh... Roland, I've made a tune using only the MC707. It's a worldwide, global number one hit. It's absolutely fantastic, everyone will love it. All it needs is a bit of sidechain compression to be ready for release. The one off the T8 would be fine. T...

Re: Loading a wav onto a grid slot
Simplest way is to have 2/3 drum machines in your tunes. Import the samples from SD card in the Sample Util. Assign the samples to the pads of the drum machine. Turn the Release for each pad to 0. To play the whole sample back, select the pad, put a single note at the start of the pattern for the pa...

Re: 707: Resample through external fx
Yes, I've done it using a vocoder on a vocal sample. You have to set the track output, and the track input when re-recording. Alternatively, connect a multifx unit as a Send/Return device, that also works. The internal sampling, however, recording the Mix Out, with everything you don't want muted, t...
